For many years, religion told us that we must work to qualify to receive what Jesus has made available to us. Believing that what we do has more impact than what Jesus already did will trap us in the type of wrong-thinking that leads to self-righteousness. Being in Christ makes us everything He already is, and we receive spiritual gifts we could never earn on our own.
